Founding Director Pamela Kirwin Heintz has translated a vision into a vibrant reality. When founding partner Mary Ann Shaw recruited her to design a public service center anchored in literacy at Syracuse University, Pam responded with imagination, vigor, and practicality. With an academic background in economics and a record of municipal service, Pam had the right credentials and personal skills to shepherd the Mary Ann Shaw Center for Public and Community Service through its birth and evolution. She has been a steady presence at the Shaw Center since 1994. Starting as a volunteer, she was instrumental in designing the Shaw Center which received its initial grant from the Carrier Corporation. Pam continues to inspire and motivate staff, faculty, students, and community through a dynamic organization that doesn’t fit neatly into any niche and yet is part of everywhere. And she does it with a warm and winning smile.
