Support from the Chancellor’s Office and Provost allows the Shaw Center to support campus – community connections in unique ways.
Parking & Transportation Services
Since 1993, Parking and Transportation Services has been a critical partner and during Spring 2020 we transitioned fully to Syracuse University vehicles, drivers, and supervisors managed internally through this office. This collaboration for best practice safety and risk management has also improved our service as our colleagues have shown a critical understanding of our transportation system’s importance.
Center for Teaching & Learning Excellence
The most recent partnership between the Shaw Center and CTLE surfaced during Spring 2020 and the need to focus internally for service learning and community engagement during the pandemic. Partnership for Inclusive Education (PIE) programming has streamlined to a collaborative Student Consultants on Teaching (SCOT) partnership between students, faculty and CTLE.
School of Education
A well-established partner with the Shaw Center, the School of Education’s involvement continues to evolve, from faculty serving as consultants for Shaw Center literacy initiatives, to combining efforts to provide transportation for students to off-campus placements and practica.
College of Arts and Sciences
The Shaw Center connects faculty in the Writing Program, the Renée Crown University Honors Program, Creative Writing, and Linguistics with the Syracuse City School District and community based organizations to help develop ongoing service learning program placements and projects.
Hendricks Chapel
While foundationally our work differs, Hendricks Chapel’s Student Service Programs and the Shaw Center share many of the same goals. We are grateful for the university wide support for community service projects that will continue to collaborate to help make our students’ experiences successful in the local community.
