Erin Thalacker ’21 is a finance, marketing, and supply chain management major in the Martin J. Whitman School of Management.

On May 4, 2020 in a virtual ceremony, two Shaw Center Leadership Interns, Erin Thalacker ’21 and Ruth Bang ’21, were chosen out of forty-six top students from eight leading undergraduate Supply Chain Management and Engineering programs across the U.S. and Mexico to receive an MIT fellowship award.

The MIT Supply Chain Excellence Awards are granted to outstanding students majoring in supply chain management or industrial engineering at institutions that have partnered with the MIT Center for Transportation and Logistics’ Supply Chain Management master’s program. The goal is to promote graduate study opportunities and expand the field of supply chain and logistics.

The Executive Director of MIT’s SCM program Dr. Josué Velazquez praised this year’s applicants as especially talented students who are both leaders in their communities and experienced professionals. This program recognizes remarkable academic capability within supply chain management and industrial engineering programs across the world.

Ruth Bang ’21 is a marketing and supply chain management major in the Martin J. Whitman School of Management.

As winners, Thalacker and Bang each receive $25,000 to invest in the SCM master’s program tuition at MIT, or at MIT Supply Chain and Logistics Excellence (SCALE) network centers in Spain, Malaysia, Luxembourg, or China.
