Partnering with Shaw Center
The staff at the Shaw Center for Public and Community Service is committed to facilitating sustainable partnerships with nonprofit organizations in the city of Syracuse and Onondaga County. Shaw Center responds to both the university and nonprofit community based organizations by matching student, faculty and staff interests and schedules with community defined needs. The service learning program provides students the opportunity to experience first hand the richness of our community.
What does service learning mean to our Community Partners?
“By utilizing service learning students we are able to provide quality lodging and services to guest families. Without the help of our volunteers and students we would not be able to do this with such a small staff and minimal budget.”
– Ronald McDonald House
“It is awesome to have students here. They are a wonderful addition. It is nice to see service hours incorporated into the curriculum at Syracuse University.”
– Dorothy Day House
